Family Activity

  • It’s Turkey oak tree trim time! Let’s get strong with some tree sport.
  • You can follow each exercise as many times as you like but we suggest 10 times for each one.
  • Warm up – look for another tree you can run to (without tripping over obstacles) – run back & forth 10 times touching each tree every time.
  • Now put your hands at shoulder level with your arms straight – press up against the tree 10 times keeping your legs straight & tummy pulled in.

  • Face the tree leaning slightly towards it – slowly & carefully bend your legs one at a time up behind you with your foot flexed 10 times each. Keep your other leg straight.
  • Now stand up straight & pull your knees one at a time up in front of you – slowly & carefully as high as you can 10 times each. Use the tree for balance if you need to. Keep your other leg straight.
  • Stretch up tall on your tiptoes – see how far you can reach up the Turkey oak trunk.
  • Bend right down with your legs as straight as you can (don’t bump your head) – can you reach your toes?
  • Now jump as high as you can from a standstill – how far up the trunk can you reach when you jump?
