Ever been out on a walk with friends and dying to share your expertise on the difference between a song thrush and a migratory redwing as they flit between scrub patches? Get closer to your local wildlife and get involved in identifying resident and over-wintering migrant birds on the Downs with Ed Drewitt, author and well-known naturalist. Ed shows us how bird behaviour changes as we enter the winter months and how to explore these uplifting animals through song and visuals at this time of year.

We’ll start with some early fieldwork as our expert leads us out on a thrilling bird walk on the Downs discovering the extraordinary, varied patterns of birdsong and focussing on many of our common Downs species. Back at the Botanic Garden site we’ll have lunch (not provided) and look in more depth at the theory over a cup of tea and biscuit.
