Welcome to the Sycamore Tree

Family Activity

  • Climb up to this sycamore tree – stand inside & look out!
  • Turn around & look behind you – can you see an old rock slide in the rocks? For many years children have slid down this old slide – for more than 100 years! Do you think this tree was here in those times?
  • Have a think about children from 150 years ago – in the Victorian era. What do you want to ask the tree about the children in those times? Think about school, clothes, speech, games.

  • The seeds on the sycamore tree are named after a flying aircraft – do you know which one? To give you a clue – they spin round & round very fast in the wind, which helps them fly to spread to new places to grow.
