Welcome to the Trio of Sycamores

Family Activity

  • Feel the wood on the trunks of the 3 sycamore trees. Give them a hug – feel right up high with your hands & all the way down to the base of the trees. Give the trees a sniff – what do they smell of?
  • What do all animals need to survive? Do you think the tree can give them all of these? All animals need food, shelter, air & water to live.
  • What gives them air to breathe on the tree? Where might they find food on the tree? How can they find water from the tree? Is there any shelter already in this tree for creatures?

  • Imagine you need to make a shelter for a little creature at the base of one of the trees.
  • Use some small sticks from around about to build a little shelter against the trunk of one of the trees. Is it cosy and waterproof? Do you need to add some dead leaves from the ground on top of the sticks to make it extra cosy & warm?
