About us
Avon Gorge & Downs Wildlife was launched in 1999. We were set up to secure the outstanding wildlife interest of the Bristol side of the Avon Gorge and Clifton & Durdham Downs and to encourage awareness and understanding of this unique location and its importance for wildlife, people and local habitat.
Conservation projects in England are managed through a landscape approach nowadays, and to this end we are work in partnership with the National Trust and Forestry England who manage Leigh Woods on the North Somerset side of the Avon Gorge.
